Place plants on a plan and check their price
Place trees and shrubs from Your palette, assign a matching assembly, then save and confirm the design's material total.
Before you start
Open a saved design in Studio on the property you are working on. The proposed layer needs to be available for new plants. Put the species you need in Your palette, and have a matching assembly with priced materials available for each plant type. This example uses one tree assembly and one shrub assembly, each with one material item priced per plant.
Place plants on the plan
Each click places one plant. In the Plants workspace, choose a tree or shrub species from Your palette, then click once at each spot where it should go. Repeat for the other plant type, then switch to Design.
- Open Plants and choose a species from Your palette.
- Click the plan once for every plant of that species; repeat for each tree and shrub. This example places two trees and three shrubs.
Assign assemblies and check the material total
In Design, select each placed plant and use Priced as in the inspector to choose the matching assembly. Assign it to every plant you want included. After assigning the last plant, choose Deselect in the inspector to clear the selection and reveal the whole-design takeoff, then open Price. The total is an estimate until you save the design.
For this example, two trees at $120 each and three shrubs at $35 each give 2 trees × $120 + 3 shrubs × $35 = $345.00 in Materials. The example assemblies contain only material items, so this is a materials total.

- Switch to Design, select each plant, and choose its matching assembly under Priced as.Use the tree assembly for both trees and the shrub assembly for all three shrubs.
- Choose Deselect in the inspector to clear the selected plant and show the full takeoff.
- Open Price and check the materials total.
- Choose Save, wait for Saved, and reload the design. In this example, five plants remain and Price still shows $345.00 in Materials from the saved revision.
